The close involvement of teachers and chaperones is a strong part of why the program is successful. The shared experience not only helps the learning take place but often times can strengthen relationships with your children as you spend time together in a totally different environment.
When your group arrives at Camp Tecumseh, you will be assigned 1-2 camp staff to lead you through the experience (orientation, introduction to the program, teaching activities, running dining hall, flag pole, campfire). The school will also provide teachers and chaperones to teach some of the activities in order to keep the trail groups down to around 10 students.
Workshops are an essential part of creating a quality educational experience for all of the kids while they are at camp. The goal of the training is for you to experience firsthand and grasp the purpose of the activities you will teach so you are comfortable leading a group. Teaching manuals will be provided.
The training will take place mostly outside, so please come prepared to be out and around camp for a few hours.
Training days are always on Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m EST. There is no cost.

With your Tecumseh adventure right around the corner, it’s important you bring what you need. Unless there is inclement weather, your school will hit the trails for learning and adventure in rain, snow, or sun. Please make sure to check the weather ahead of time and help your child be prepared to be outside!
If your school or child is at camp and you need to get in touch urgently, please call the office number (765-564-2898) and one of our office staff will be able to contact them. For after-hours emergency needs only, please call the same number and follow the prompts. You will press 5 to reach the after-hours cell phone.
Cell phone coverage at camp varies depending on provider. We also have WiFi capability if you bring your own laptop/device.
